Fall is here and the Holidays are coming!

It's that time of year when, just like the cute turkey above, we're all dreaming of pie! As we sink our teeth into the holiday season, the Texas Sweethearts & Scoundrels want to thank you for reading our newsletter! We love sharing the joy of books with our community. P. J. Hoover

P. J. (Tricia) recently flew to Oklahoma where she delivered a keynote speech for the Mildred Laughlin Festival of Books for Young People talking about all the many reasons to never give up. Amid a fall of school visits and librarian regional conferences, she is preparing for the launch of TUT: MY EPIC BATTLE TO SAVE THE WORLD (February 28, 2017).


Christina Soontornvat

Christina has just returned from a whirlwind tour, sharing her debut middle grade fantasy novel THE CHANGELINGS (Sourcebooks, 2016) with students all over the country. Learn more at http://books.sourcebooks.com/the-changelings.


Nikki Loftin

Nikki shares her latest novel, Wish Girl, recently selected by the Texas Center for the Book as Texas' Great Read for 2016 in this wonderful video.

Carmen Oliver

Carmen Oliver thinks anything is possible when you are a reader and she's honored to be a 2016 Picture Book Month champion! Picture Book Month is an international literacy initiative that encourages the sharing and reading of picture books between adult and child.  "In a world where everything moves at such a fast pace, picture books remind us to slow down."

Jessica is pleased to announce her Texas Bigfoot novel, UNCERTAIN SUMMER, will be published by CBAY books Fall 2017! UNCERTAIN SUMMER is a middle grade novel in which things become more uncertain than ever when an unlikely team set out to prove Bigfoot's existence to win a million dollar contest.


Bethany Hegedus

Gandhi comes to Texas. Bethany Hegedus celebrates the release of Be the Change: A Grandfather Gandhi Story,  which has earned a SLJ star and is a Junior Library Guild selection with Arun Gandhi at the Texas Book Festival. The co-authors will speak Saturday 11/5 at noon in room E 2 .026 in the Capital Extension. Hegedus and Gandhi will also speak in New Braunfels on Sunday 11/6 at a ticked event.


Emma Virján

Emma Virján is pleased to share that WHAT THIS STORY NEEDS IS A PIG IN A WIG has been selected as a 2015 Children's Picture Book Finalist. 
 

Mari Mancusi

Cory Putman Oakes

Cory Putman Oakes is thrilled to show off the cover of her upcoming YA novel, WITCHTOWN (HMH 2017). WITCHTOWN is about a mother/daughter crime team who set their sights on a mysterious, "witches-only" town. More details here!

Also, Cory's middle grade novel, DINOSAUR BOY SAVES MARS, came out in paperback on Tuesday.
